Healthy Makeup

Hi everyone! So a few days ago, I went to the mall with my mom and we stopped by Bare Escentuals--I was in heaven!  The makeup that they have is free of preservatives and fillers, and it looks absolutely flawless on your skin!  You can't go wrong with makeup that's good for your skin!

I decided to have some fun and play around with the makeup that they have.  I tried on some new eyeshadow colors, their liquid eyeliner (which is in powder form that you have to mix with water--so cool!), and a gorgeous red lipstick :)  The look I have on is very natural and I think it's great for the daytime or evening.

My NYC Trip!

So this past weekend I went to NYC with my best friend, Laura.  We had a blast!  We went to this really cool lounge in midtown and were able to have food and drinks on the roof top...such an amazing view!
Beautiful view from the roof top!
Loving it!

The next day we went shopping in Soho!  And of course you know I had to go into DASH ;)  Even though everything was way out of my price range, I was so curious to see what fashion the Kardashians sold inside.  This store is so popular that there was literally a line of girls outside waiting to get in...along with intense security at the door...crazy!

lol :)
Everything was super expensive!

After leaving DASH, we visited some other cute boutiques on Spring St.

I love the sleeves!

Bright colors for spring!

I love how the belt peaks out on the side of this dress

What's a trip to NYC without food?!

Mini cupcakes! SO good!

Really good Japanese restaurant!

And of course...the lovely art and jewelry on the sidewalks.

New Organic Products

Hey everyone! So my mom just recently purchased a bunch of organic products for me that I absolutely love!  For the past couple of months, I've been really into using shampoos & conditioners that are free of sodium lauryl sulfates, parabens, and other damaging chemicals.  Here is why!

Why are sulfates & parabens so dangerous? --> Sodium Lauryl Sulfate has protein denaturing properties, which causes a degenerative effect on the cell membrane. It also dissolves the oils on your skin, which causes a drying effect.  In addition, it can cause irritation on your skin and strip your hair of its natural oils!  Research shows that parabens play a role in the development of breast cancers and other health issues.
Why are these dangerous chemicals still used in products? --> It is cheap to manufacture! These chemicals are also used in many soaps, stain removers, fabric glues, and detergents.
Who should especially avoid products with sulfates? --> People with really dry hair, people who suffer from eczema, anyone with oily skin, and those with chemically damaged hair or color treated hair.  The sulfates fade the color in your hair!

*Important: Always read the labels when purchasing products.  And just because a product says it's "natural," does NOT mean it is free from Sulfates or Parabens!

J.Lo Inspired Look!

Hey everyone!  I saw this picture of Jennifer Lopez and I knew I had to replicate this look! She looks absolutely gorgeous.  This look is very simple to get, and it really doesn't take much effort! I decided to put my own twist on it for this beautiful spring time weather.  It's a little more toned down and I didn't go too heavy on the eyeshadow either.  Here's how to do it!

Makeup:
Face - MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in "Medium Deep," MAC Blush in "Melba," Tarte Bronzer
Eyebrows - Anastasia Brow Wiz in "Medium Ash"
Eyes - Revlon Liquid Eyeliner, MAC Kohl Eyeliner in "Smolder," Revlon Grow Lucious Mascara
Lips - Revlon Lipstick in "Love That Pink"

Hair:
Step 1 - Part hair to the side
Step 2 - Take two bobby pins and pin up hair on the left side
Step 3 - Use any 1 1/2 inch curling iron and loosely curl your hair outwards, away from your face
Step 4 - Finish off with your favorite hair spray, and you're all done!
